This March, we celebrate Women’s History Month and remember the incredible women who have paved the way for us. This year, we’re honoring the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a woman who changed the course of history through her legal battles for gender equality. She was a fighter until the very end, and her legacy will continue to inspire us for many years to come.
Mark Gemma had the honor of meeting Ruth Bader Ginsburg at a luncheon at Roger Williams University School of Law. Mark said,
“Even though RBG was small in stature when she was speaking in front of us, she was imposing. She didn’t think in sentences., she talked in paragraphs. She was great.”

The attendees had an opportunity to meet RBG after lunch. The university made all of RBG’s favorite meals. Mark recalls speaking with the Supreme Court Justice when the waiters brought her dessert. It wasn’t just any dessert; it was her husband’s favorite dessert. Mark asked RBG how the dessert was, and she said, “They nailed it.”
You can find recipes created by Martin Ginsburg, Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s husband, in the cookbook Chef Supreme: Martin Ginsburg. The book is a tribute to Martin, put together by the spouses of the Supreme Court Justices. The spouses had monthly lunches and enjoyed sharing recipes and cooking together.
